Isla's Birthday Weekend

This weekend was a super busy one for us starting with Friday evening, when we had Weston's 6 month pictures taken. We had a bit of a rough start, as Weston fell off a little mini stool we were trying out for a picture (oops! Mother of the year over here!) but after a brief moment of crying and brushing him off, he was back to his super smiley self & ready to snap some pictures! In the rare moments he wasn't smiling, all we had to do was ask Isla to talk to him. He hears "Hiiiii Westie J!!" from his big sissy and instantly smiles from ear to ear (& simultaneously melts mama's heart). Molly also took a few pictures with big sister Isla included as well, and I can't wait to see them! We did receive one teaser picture already & I can't stop staring at it. I mean come on!!
Saturday was Isla's birthday party. For all of her birthdays so far we have done a costume party, & continued the same this year. Her costume this year is what she calls a "princess witch". She said she needed "a dress, hat, and wand!" All of which luckily came with her costume ;) I was horrible & took essentially no pictures (let me reiterate....Mother. Of. The. Year.) but have collected a few from others who were kind enough to have taken some!

We rented a bounce house which was a pretty big hit, except for the fact that Isla thought it was her "new toy" and that she was keeping it forever--sorry babe, not so much!
Her cake & cupcakes were Pinterest inspired, along with some Frankenstein Rice Krispy Treats. Again, total failure with the picture taking, but trust me when I say they obviously weren't as awesome as the Pinterest examples, but weren't total failures either..so I'll call it a win!  There were soooo many more cute Pinterest food and decor items I wanted to attempt, but didn't find the time. There's always next year;) Weston napped the majority of her party (party pooper!) but had some fun sitting in the bounce house with the girls. Overall it was a pretty great party & Isla is a lucky girl with lots of people who love her and took time out of their weekend to come to her party!

On Sunday (her actual birthday), we went to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm. We had never been but heard good things about it. It's perfect for kids & has tons of activities for them to do. Isla went on a train ride, pony ride, carousel ride, watched a pig race, checked out the petting zoo, and picked out a pumpkin. There were a bunch of other things to do as well, but she was still super tired from her busy day before, so we kept it pretty brief. We will definitely be going back next year, & can't wait for Weston to be a little older so he can partake as well! His experience this year included a stroller ride & a nap in the Ergo carrier strapped to mama ;)

I cannot believe my baby girl is three years old now, when I swear she was just born yesterday! The weekend was awesome but flew by too fast as usual, especially since we were so busy. Today we have no aspirations of even getting out of our jammies, and I am so ok with that!

Happy Monday!

Weston's 6 Month Update

Age: 6 Months
Height: 27 ¾ inches
Weight: 18 lbs 13 oz
Clothing size: 9 months
Diaper size: 3
Eating: Still a favorite pastime of Mr. Weston! We have tried lots of different fruits & veggies now, and I would say his favorites appear to be prunes & carrots.
Sleeping: In his crib & generally through the night! He still rocks the Zipadee Zip (not sure if we will ever be able to get him out of it!). He will occasionally wake up during the night, & if I pop the pacifier back in he generally goes right back to sleep. Every once in a while we have a rough night of sleep, but I’ve been chocking that up to teething (oh my world the drool is out of control!). He’s been getting better-ish with taking decent naps. The second I lay him in his crib he instantly rolls to his left side—apparently his fave sleeping position—super cute!
Favorite toys: Still loving the floor playmat, & his Lion King activity center..or as we call it… his “Simba seat”. Really his favorite toy is his sister. He loves when she plays with him!
Loves: Playing peekaboo is a favorite, making funny noises, flying in the sky like an airplane, when we eat his belly & recently he has had an extra interest in the dogs. Thank goodness they are so good with him because he is not always so gentle—yikes! He also recently decided he loves bath time! He has been sort of indifferent for a while, but lately he seems to really enjoy it, making it much easier for Mama! A total win-win!

Weston just had his 6 month checkup Tuesday & he is growing right on track! Weston’s normal pediatrician was out on maternity leave, so we had a different one for this appointment. He was pretty personable & nice enough, but very brief and not really as informative as our regular doctor--hence why I don’t have the percentiles for his height & weight, although I am sure I could look it up. He just said that he is above average for weight, height, and head circumference, but when you put it all together, he is perfect—I could’ve told ya that ;) Can’t believe my sweet boy is already ½ a year old! Looking forward to his 6 month pictures next week!

Happy Friday, guys!

Walker Weekend Recap

Here I am again. Recapping last weekend when it is almost the weekend again! (Not that I am even remotely complaining!) Not enough time in the day, I guess! Anyhow, last weekend was pretty great. On Saturday, my Dad's work had a work party that supposedly was going to have a bunch of fun stuff for kids to do. Earlier in the week he had asked if Isla could go with him & my mom to the party & of course I said yes. Those grandparents sure do love to show off the little grand babies don't they? ;) According to my parents the party wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, but Isla had a blast regardless. They kept asking her if she was ready to leave & she would reply with, "No thanks!"  Ultimately they ended up bribing her with a present & stopped at the store & let her pick something out on the way home--& of course a little something for Weston as well. Typical grandparents again...totally spoiled!

In the meantime of her being away, Daddy & Weston shared some boys time hanging at home while I went to a huge craft fair & then shopping at a few stores for supplies for Isla's birthday party coming up. I am excited to start really planning it out & I got a few cute things, but have some other ideas that I will definitely be adding on to what I found last weekend.

On Sunday, we started out the morning with Raiders football at home since the Patriots were on a bye week. They didn't end up winning, but our fun afternoon with Isla made up for it. We took her to her first movie at the movie theater, Hotel Transylvania 2. She had just recently watched the first one & was so excited she was a "big girl" going to the movies! She was so good during the movie & sat quietly the whole time except for maybe the last 5-10 minutes where she insisted on standing, but was still quiet, so I definitely can't complain! She ate a ton of popcorn and when Devin tried to share with her she said, "Ok, don't eat it all, Dad!" We sat at the very top and after it was over she insisted she walk down the stairs herself. For anyone who knows Isla, she is VERY cautious and so this whole ordeal took FOREVER to get down the stairs. We anticipated it would be a lengthy process, so we waited for everyone to clear out of the theater before we left. Leaving took about as long as the movie itself ;) Overall it was an awesome first movie experience with our little girl & I look forward to more movie dates in the future.

Where does the time go?

Time flies & I am not a fan! I've been gently reminded of that fact multiple times a day lately when Isla continuously reminds me that she is "2 right now, and on her birthday she is going to be 3!" What?! This week I got her birthday invitations for her party that will be at the end of the month, but I'd really rather not send them out. If no one is invited & there's no party, she'll just stay 2 years old, right? ;) She is undeniably growing up into a sweet girl & it's true that I see her grow every. single. day. She has always been good at pretend play, but lately she's been coming up with these detailed scenarios (a little of which is  mumbling that I don't fully understand--haha), and it blows my mind how smart she is! She is really into her preschool & makes me call her Miss. Jennifer (her teacher's name) and she leads our doggies in "class". I feel like most kids play school or want to be a teacher at some point in their life, I know I definitely did! I think my teacher aspirations were mostly based on wanting to write on a chalkboard & since that has all but gone by the wayside (among other reasons), I don't think that's really my calling! ;) When I picked her up from school yesterday, she said bye to her teacher & went running over & gave her a huge hug, & a little boy hugged Isla on her way out the door as well. I've gotta say, my heart totally melted. She is growing up faster than I'd like, but sadly it cannot be stopped, so we decided to embrace it & have a special big girl adventure planned for her for this weekend ;) More on that later for sure.

Needless to say, she isn't the only little of mine shamelessly breaking my heart with the growing!

Mr. Weston is growing like crazy as well. We are officially out of all 6 month clothing, and onto the 9 month range. He is getting really good at sitting on his own, & I think he will be there in no time! He loves to smile & laugh & thinks his sister is the funniest human on the planet. He loves to eat, although yesterday he thought it was more fun to play with the prunes than it was to eat them.
He will be 6 months in a few weeks, & I scheduled him an appointment for 6 month pictures with our favorite photographer Molly Wassenaar. She has done all the professional pictures I have had taken of both Isla & Weston, as well as a few family pictures. Her work is always so gorgeous & I can't wait for our photo session with her and to see how his 6 month pictures turn out! We did a little shopping yesterday while Isla was at preschool & got a few parts of his planned ensemble for his pictures. Clearly, I am pretty excited!

Looking forward to this weekend & spending time with my little family. The Patriots having a bye week this week frees up some time Sunday after the Raiders game (my hubby's team) for the fun afternoon we have planned for our little (or as she says, big!) girl, & of course some extra lovin' + play time with Westie J.

Happy Weekend!
