The say every baby is different, and my two are a prime example of that. Literally from birth, Isla hated being swaddled, so we never swaddled her at all. Weston on the other hand, is the complete opposite. He loves to be snuggled tight in a swaddle, & in reality Isla has never been into cuddling at all (sad times for mama!). I always said I wanted a snuggly baby, & I got just that with my little man!
Since we had zero swaddling blankets from when Isla was a baby, we bought this Halo Sleepsack Swaddle, which we have been using for awhile now & he has been great at sleeping through the night.
Lately though, he has been breaking free from it a little bit & it seems to be getting too small overall. He will not sleep if he isn't swaddled, and we have been attempting to transition him since he is getting bigger & the risks associated with swaddled babies rolling over (not that he seems to have ANY interest in that at all! Lazy bum! That's one thing him & his sister have in common for sure!) We tried the swaddling with one arm out that's suggested for transitioning, and it's been an epic failure. I found the Zipadee-Zip swaddle transition blanket, & figured we should give it a shot. We ordered this one...I love the print for our little man & giving back to firefighters is an added bonus! Supposedly, it helps with swaddle transitions as well as transitioning to the crib, which is something we also want to do very soon. We moved Isla to her crib at about 4 months with no problems whatsoever (she was seriously an angel baby). While I am not usually pessimistic, somehow I don't have high hopes for a smooth transition with Weston. People used to always say we didn't know how lucky we were with how easygoing Isla was with everything we did with her, & we are finding that out now! (Ok, I am making him sound awful! In reality little Weston is such a sweetie & a really good boy! I mean-- look at this face!)
Currently he sleeps in his Rock 'n Play which I feel like he barely fits in length-wise, he looks totally crammed, but he still sleeps through the night in it--ok crazy boy! We are hoping the Zipadee-Zip will help with both the swaddling & crib transitions, & I am anxious for it to arrive so we can try it out! Review to follow for sure ;)
Ellia hates being swaddled, too! I felt like as soon as she started to feel slightly cramped in her Rock n' Play thing that we have, she was completely all set. I'm a little jealous that Weston still likes his. ;) I can't wait to hear how the transition to his crib goes!! I am soo dreading that because I think it's going to be really tough for us. But, who knows. I hope I'm wrong! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's a girl thing! We are too busy to be tied down in a swaddle or shoved in a Rock 'n play...we have important things to do! ;) Who knows! Maybe you'll get lucky with the crib transition! Weston has taken one or two halfway decent naps in there so far but...still not holding my breath! I will let you know how it goes!
