Just Like Mommy Cosmetics & weekend recap

Isla is a total girly girl & it's the cutest thing ever. One thing she loves is "doing her makeup". She could be on the opposite end of the house, but if she hears me open the bathroom drawer that I keep my makeup in, she will come running from wherever she is yelling, "Mommy! You doing your makeup?! I want to do mine too!" I always just gave her a makeup sponge & maybe a brush and she pretended that way, so I was super excited when I found Just Like Mommy Cosmetics on Instagram. (You can order from the full site here.) I knew she would love her own makeup, so I had to order some. I ordered her the pretend starter beauty set & after tracking the package, I told her that her makeup would be coming in the mail that day (Saturday). To say she was excited would be a total understatement. There is a mail slot on the front of our house so the mail comes directly inside (pretty cool) but lands inside the entryway closet (pretty strange), where most people would keep their shoes, jackets, etc. I am wanting to have some sort of basket or something set up to catch the mail so it doesn't just disperse all over the closet floor, but I want something cute! (Because that totally matters when I am probably the only person who will ever see it!) Isla kept peeking in the closet all morning waiting for her makeup to arrive.

Luckily, the mail comes around 10am, so she didn't have to wait too long (although she may disagree with that!). Once we opened it, she spent a good 45 minutes playing with it, and only put it down when we drug her out the door to go to the store. The second we got home, she grabbed her gold sparkly makeup bag & started reapplying ;) Needless to say, I think this is a new favorite of hers, and I would encourage any mamas of girly girls who love makeup to consider buying some.

I also love love love the shirt she is wearing that I found from Lavender & Lace Co. on Instagram, (purchase from full site here). It says, "Stop trying to make nap time happen it's not going to happen". Gotta love a Mean Girls reference.

Other than playing with makeup nonstop, our weekend was fairly low key. We shopped for some closet organization supplies. Our closet had an old organizing system that really wasn't functional for us, and we had to take it out when we had the floors refinished-- bummer right? ;) So, we are in the process of changing it up to better fit our needs. We got a few things to start with, but we will be adding to it in the near future when we decide exactly how we want it.

Our neighbor Karen came by with the previous owner of our house (whose name I learned is Louise) and her daughter (whose name completely slips my mind--oops!) She was so sweet and loved everything we have done with the house. She told us she lived here for 43 years, took a ton of pictures of the renovations, and had a few tears in her eyes. It was very sweet & also sad. Karen said she was hesitant to ask if they could come in, and repeatedly thanked us for letting them come by, that it meant so much to Louise, & that she was looking forward to it all week-- between that & listening to them reminisce about where their belongings were situated when they lived here, kind of melted my heart and made me love our house even more for some reason. I know I would love to go back to the house I grew up in (although obviously it wasn't nearly as long as she lived here!), so I am glad we were able to do that for her.

After that, we headed to my parents house for dinner, as we do every Sunday. We just hung out, ate dinner, played Yahtzee & that's about it! Weston caught some well deserved zzz's..he leads a rough life ;)

Onto Monday!

    1. Thank you!! Yes, the mail slot is pretty awesome. I had never seen such a thing before but I did notice no one in the neighborhood has an actual mailbox at the end of their driveways, but they seem to have a little box near the door. Not us! The direct delivery is definitely beneficial when you're not presentable to go out into the real world---frequent occurrence here ;)
